Bowling Update: Williams wins King of the Hill at Desert Lanes

Send to friendFORT HUACHUCA — Desert Lanes crowned a new King of the Hill at Saturday’s tournament. Twenty-two competitors accepted the challenge posed by the Mexico City pattern.
With lanes covered in forty-five feet of oil, many bowlers were unable to adapt their technique to a desirable balance of slide and curve, leaving them to prove accuracy at spares and split conversions.
In the end, last month’s champion, Rob Shepherd, along with Chris Cheek, Shane Centers and Gary Williams contended for the title. Centers triumphed over the first three opponents in the elimination rounds with scores consistently in the 190s. He lost the final round to Gary Williams, whose scores were dominant throughout the competition. With a fine 210 game, Williams earned the title and bragging rights until next month’s tournament.
The next tournament scheduled at Desert Lanes is a doubles tournament on Saturday, March 3rd at noon. The cost is $20.00 for USBC members, plus an additional $5.00 for non-members.
